Celebrated Irish designer Eileen Gray built her seaside villa E.1027 between 1926 and 1929 with the help of architect Jean Badovici, as an expression of modernism in architecture. She also designed all of its ingenious furniture. The building is undergoing significant ongoing restoration. In 2014 management of this masterpiece (owned by the French coastal agency Conservatoire du Littoral) was entrusted to the Centre des Monuments Nationaux.
