The ancient village of Roquebrune stands perched high on an outcrop of tertiary pudding stone, towering dizzyingly almost 300 m above the sea. The secrets of local history can be read in the ancient stones of the castle, the old village lavoir, the atmospheric flights of stairs, arched passages, and little squares and fountains.
